Communication Research Laboratory

The Communication Research Laboratory conducts research on basic communication processes related to message production, message effects, and social interaction from a behavioral science perspective. The laboratory takes an inter-disciplinary approach to theory building and emphasizes research that can have an applied focus.

The laboratory is housed in Manoogian Hall, Room 456. The laboratory contains high-end computers that allow response time data collection. The laboratory also undertakes data collection via web-based interfaces.

The laboratory has facilities to carry out both experiments and surveys. The range of projects that can be conducted include testing of persuasive messages, such as political advertising and public service announcements; formative research for health campaigns; responses to media programming; and audience surveys.
