Wayne State University’s Graduate School is among the ten largest in the country. With over 10,000 students, it is the largest in Michigan.
Part of the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, the Department of Communication includes 28 full-time faculty members with specialized backgrounds offering a variety of scholarly and professional approaches to the study and practice of communication.
Our graduate program offers a Ph.D. in Communication in which students can focus their studies in five different areas, tailoring the program to fit their goals.
The Master of Arts in Communication offers concentrations in Communication Studies, Journalism, Media Arts, Media Studies, and Public Relations & Organizational Communication. The department also offers a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution and a joint program in Dispute Resolution and Law.
Graduate Certificate programs offer students the option to gain expertise without taking on an additional degree. Certificates available include: Communication and New Media, Dispute Resolution and Health Communication.
To accommodate busy professionals, courses are offered in the evening at our main campus in Midtown Detroit.
Graduate Student Organization
