Film Studies

About the Major

Film studies is an interdepartmental program that offers you the opportunity to examine cinema from a variety of perspectives: as a visual and narrative art form, as an important social and cultural force in the 20th century, as an industry and as a technologically based communication medium.

*Note* Only students who have already declared Film Studies as a major may complete the course.  New students will declare the Film major.

Career Opportunities

A major in film studies prepares you for a career as a film teacher, film librarian and archivists, film critic, script writer, or worker in film production. Additional study at the graduate level is usually required to achieve these goals.
