The Wayne State University Debate Institute is designed to promote the training of students in the understanding and application of the principles and techniques of argumentation. Central to this commitment is individualized instruction. Each institute participant will receive individualized instruction directed towards improving the presentation and research skills needed to succeed in high school debate.

• Labs with a coach to student ratio of 1 to 6.

• Multiple practice debates and speeches followed by extensive critiques on both the substantive arguments and presentational techniques.

• Detailed lectures covering the key issues of hot topic issues such as global warming, death penalty, human cloning and many others.
