Talent Scholarship:

Members of WSU's debate team are eligible for university talent scholarships.  Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Director of Forensics.  Amounts vary according to participation and excellence in the activity.

Other Scholarship Information:

The team provides a number of scholarships in addition to the Talent Scholarships. This scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis and can increase based on your commitment to the team and your competitive success. End of the Year Awards
:

At the annual DSR-TKA award banquet, we give out annual monetary awards to students for their performance during the year. These awards include:

Goofball Award (non-monetary award): award to distinguish the team member that: displays best humor, involved in humorous events, says funny things (intentional or not), etc.

  • David and Alice Goldman Award. An award given to the top 1st year debater(s).

  • Raymond and Alice Hayes Award. An award given to the top 2nd year debater(s).

  • Greco Award. An award given to the Most Improved debater(s).

  • Bernstein Award. An award generously donated by Richard Bernstein, a member of the Wayne State Board of Governors.

  • Angela Cowen Award. An award given to the debater(s) with limited or no high school experience, strong grades, excellence in competition and enthusiasm. Angela was a NDT qualifier for Wayne State in the late 1990s. Unfortunately, she tragically died at the age of 22, shortly before she was to attend law school.

  • Bohman Award. An award given to the top overall debater(s) on the team.
